Summary

The UK signed a 100-year partnership with Ukraine during Sir Keir Starmer‘s visit to Kyiv, pledging sustained economic, military, and humanitarian support.

The agreement includes a new mobile air defense system, expanded troop training, and collaboration on healthcare and maritime security.

Amid Russian drone attacks during the visit, Starmer reaffirmed backing for Ukraine’s NATO membership and security guarantees.

President Zelensky praised the UK’s commitment as vital, especially with concerns over potential reduced US support under the incoming Trump administration.

The treaty will be presented to Parliament soon.

As a progressive, this is why I hate other progressives. Nothing is ever good enough. No progress is ever perfect enough. Why mix the batter when we want cake right now!?

The worst enemy of a progressive isn’t conservatives…it’s other progressives kneecapping them because they can never be happy about a fucking thing. It’s shortsighted AF.

I’m still happy there was a deal at all, I was merely questioning the ‘100-year’ descriptors value in the headline. What does this add in comparison to other more realistic timeframe deals? I suspect more sensationalism is what all these kneecapping progressives desire too, huh?

You may hate yourself and other progressives, but I love you all regardless of your overreactions to everything lol

There’s a contract from 1648 that still pays interest today because the company that issued it still exists. Unless Ukraine or the UK cease to exist in 100 years this contract will absolutely be enforced.

I’m not doubting if it’ll be enforced or not. But like that 300+ year contract, what is the significance of the 100 year limit? How was it decided? WHY NOT 400 Billion year deals!?!?! If you’re going to tell me that’s too long, I’d like to know how 100 years isn’t too long as well
