Not in particular. We need to be more self sufficient in general.

    Yes.

But first we need to deal with the traitors Orban and Fico.

Then we need to establish our own defence capabilities and reduce the dependencies on US companies for digital capabilities. (Get rid of Windows and US companies in the entire public sector.) Buy European, this will also Support our Economy.

Thirdly we should integrate closer with other countries also fucked over by Trump, like Canada

EDIT: Fourth - High Tariffs for all countries which don’t adhere roughly to our environmental and social Standards. To avoid a Race to the bottom with globalisation. Free Trade with everyone else

Yea, that would be great. Instead it is becoming a central European triangle of annoyance with the addition of Kickl.

Remember, too, that Canada has a sea border with France and a land border with Denmark. We’re basically the Netherlands. Let’s all be friends!

        Please take us with you.

We can start small; let us into Eurovision. You let Austrailia in - well, they’re basically antipodous to us, so give Canada a go too.

After that, let’s add some more spice. Maybe some trade agreements, or study-abroad programmes for exchange students. Then we can really turn up the heat, if you catch my drift.

    Yes.

The re-election of Trump proved they are no longer leaders of the free world. That mantle must be taken up by the EU now.

We thought it was already taken up by Germany, but then that regime changed a bit.

But yeah – the EU itself is now the leadership.

Well, clickbait title obviously, but the EU will have little choice but to treat US based social media similar to how TikTok is viewed in the US, i.e. operated by a potentially hostile actor.

This is IMHO long overdue, but it comes with the inevitable splintering of public opinion space a bit similar to how there is little overlap with the Chinese or Russian one (but for those the main reason was language barrier).

EU can’t even manage Orban, so why would one expect a viable approach to American fascist oligarchy?

Your country is actively attacking our democracies and is threatening war over an European oversea territory.

We need all the help we can get.

Help with what? We cannot resist for you. That is something you have to do yourself outside of social media.

Yeah. I thought that after election, the insane clown president would screw Europe by stoping support for Ukraine and supporting the russian bear instead. I didn’t, in my darkest dreams expect him to actually threaten to attack his allies and let his dog fund the actual fascists in Europe, undermining the stability in the classic russian mixed warfare style.

I don’t blame any country that doesn’t want to help us, we’ve been screwing over other countries for a long time. We need to fix our shit here before we reenter the global stage. We need to start producing quality things and people again, we need to have a more humanitarian posture on the world strange. Unfortunately, very few currently aligned with the power structure here is on board with that, so they need to go as well.

Gotta help ourselves first. Why should they give aid for a fight we are unwilling to wage?

I hope that this is just a temporary setback in the long term. Europe and North America’s relationship is a unique one that would be terrible to loose.

      • I mean Elizabeth May was shooting too low by offering that Canada take Washington, Oregon, and California. I was offended! Why not Minnesota?? We share a border and a Great Lake, and most of Canada’s population already lives South of Minneapolis/St. Paul! Why weren’t we invited?
