      That is unfortunate.

Hopefully they decide to support cryptocurrencies in the future so I can donate to them.

Out of curiosity, why are you limiting yourself to donations only of crypto, and not just crypto in general but only specifically the few you chose to use?

There is no real privacy benefit using crypto here, or any risk in donating with more commonly used payment methods.

It’s easier. I just donated to blender because they support crypto. I don’t have to make an account. I don’t have to give out bank account info.

On a philosophical note, cryptocurrencies can free us from the control of banks. That lack of centralization should be appealing to people in the free software community.

I was going to donate to godot, but they don’t support it. And it’s not even about being limited to “the few I choose.” Supporting crypto at all encourages more people to, you know, use those coins.

I didn’t even mention a specific coin. It’s sad that you all are bandwagoning and in the process costing the project money. It’s ridiculously easy to set up a wallet and have a link to donate, but it looks like the snowball effect has taken hold and now that’s one less option people have to support the project.

It’s possible to transfer funds out of crypto. As long as you aren’t on the wrong end of the constant rug pulls. However your phrasing is oddly passive aggressive.

If you want to donate. Donate. If them not wanting to deal with the hassle of, or something with the horrible reputation of crypto. Is excuse for you not to. You likely never wanted to. 🤷

What the heck? There was nothing “passive aggressive” about it.

If Godot accepted cryptocurrencies I use, then I would donate to them. It really is that simple. It doesn’t cost them anything to accept cryptocurrencies.

I don’t know why you’re being passive aggressive, when the entire point of this thread is to encourage more ways to support development.

I’m gonna ignore you now, because honestly I don’t have time for this kind of nonsense anymore. You’re doing your part to make sure Godot has less money.

Crypto currency is inconvenient for normal people. You have to set up a a special wallet you don’t already have. Which takes time and effort. Which costs money. In order to do anything with it. Most people would have to translate it to actual currency to be very useful. Which again, costs time and effort. Which costs money.

If someone had a go-fund me for medical debt. And you told them you would have donated. But they don’t accept funko-pops. It wouldn’t be much different. Or donating your old car to a food bank. It’s a lot of unnecessary hassle. Which diminishes returns.

Between the passive aggression and the projection. It’s clear your more focused on evangelizing crypto currency. Which most people have no use for. It’s good to have a hobby. It’s immature to act upset when others tell you they don’t want to participate in it.
