Social housing, too, in some form or shape. Surely by now we know how to build social housing without creating ghettos.

How would ghettos be worse than the current situation?? My city built 50 garden sheds beside a dump on the outskirts of town where there are no services whatsoever, and they are so pleased with themselves they’re thinking of doing it again. That’s what is passing as social housing today. It’s fucking pathetic.

I didn’t say guettos are worse than what we have now. I said that surely we know how to build social housing without creating guettos in the first place, which is the typical NIMBY knee jerk reaction to their construction.

We’ve known that segregating classes of people is harmful to everyone for decades. We still do it, because of psychological reasons like irrational hatred of the poor. None of this is because of lack of knowledge or resources. Things are exactly the way that makes the most money for entrenched capital, and that’s no accident.
