“Find ethical alternatives built by people who are not out to fuck you over”
I moved to Linux about 2 years ago. It instantly felt better in terms of security, privacy and speed.
But there were many weeks of frustration trying to get things the way I wanted.
A bit like moving to a new town, you don’t know where things are, you miss so many things about your old town, but gradually you learn about the new town and all its features and are glad you moved.
I like this moving to a new town analogy. I may use that in the future.

The question is why now ?<br> Did ethics not matter to you then ? (Especially during the time when they fucked you over the 1st time)
Because now this stuff is in a better working state.
Linux now supports most video games (successfully played elden ring, drg, and Balatro this weekend) open office is far more reliable.

Here’s a guy that seems to finally start following some of your worldviews. Starts preaching a bit of your gospel, and your first reaction seems to be.
“You’re too slow. You’re clearly fake because a true linux and open source user would’ve sacrificed themselves to a pipeline that did not work for them.”
Why can’t you just be happy and smug right now that a creator has moved away from corporate and into the open source realm?
Everyone has different thresholds for action. When you’re talking about replacing your entire professional toolset, it might make sense that they were resistent.

If it takes this long to look for you to actually care about ethical alternatives, then you are virtue signaling about “Ethics” (Usually)
