Why forbidden? Tums is chalk. They’re both CaCO3 and chalk like this, meant for young children, shouldn’t have any toxic additives.

The chalk is surely non-toxic. The various pigments are another story. But still I am tempted to try them.
As a child I recall consuming them both and finding them quite satisfying.
