Summary

Guatemalan authorities rescued 160 children from the Lev Tahor sect, known for extremist practices including child marriage and abuse, during a raid on their farm in Oratorio.

Prosecutors suspect forced pregnancies, mistreatment, and rape.

Two days later, sect members tried to break into the care center housing the children, clashing with police in an effort to take them back.

Authorities secured the children and ensured their protection.

The Jewish Community of Guatemala disavowed the sect and supported investigations to protect vulnerable minors from further harm.

A lifetime of supressing sexual urges inevitability turns into something very ugly. And children are vulnerable and easily manipulated by adults into keeping quiet. Its fucking disgusting, to say the least.

OK, I’m happy that the children are being held safe… but how about arresting the people who did the horrible shit?

People try to defend far right orthodox “volunteer police” and say it protects these far right self isolating populations.

But the issue is, they’re not allowed to turn any Jewish person in for a crime to “non-Jewish authorities”.

So if they ran into this, they wouldn’t be able to do anything. Which becomes a much larger issue when the children growing up in these sects are told not to call regular police for anything, just to use the one that doesn’t care about crimes if the criminal is Jewish.

    Guatemala?

That’s in the Americas! Jewish people already came here and became Catholic centuries ago. Anyway, its definitely not a good thing to hear about either side of the argument.
