Lenovo is working on a gaming handheld called Legion Go, which might be the best on-the-go gaming device yet! And if you think this is just another rumor like Lenovo’s Legion Play from a few years back (as we also did), think again.

At first glance, it doesn’t look that much different from its competitors, but the thing that sets it apart (we think) it’s the similarities with another huge player in this space, the Nintendo Switch.

    “It will sport Windows 11” Lost me there. I’ll go with the Steam Deck when it’s time for me to buy a handheld. It’s a shame, too. I love my Lenovo Legion gaming laptop, especially for the battery saving options. When it’s time for me to upgrade, I hope the Legion laptops continue to be compatible with Linux.

      Linux works for me too, but there are certain games that don’t play on it due to DRM, or just not functioning on Proton.

      Other systems are going to be good for the ecosystem, let them play around and find out what works.

      In the end, it’s also highly likely you can format it and run Linux if you wanted (maybe even steamos)

        I think that if Lenovo wants to go with Windows 11 as its default in its handheld, it’s because it wants to steal market share from the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion now for 2 plus years and I’m happy with it because I can keep Windows out of my life and it has a 17" screen. ALL of my games work for me, mostly because my modern game library is stuff I bought on Steam, so for me a Steam Deck makes sense. My old games work for me because they came out before DRM stuff. I guess I got lucky and started using Steam early on (like, lots of years ago). The only reason why gaming is better on Linux today is because of Steam, actually. The reason why my Lenovo Legion laptop works great with Linux has nothing to do with that. When I bought it new, it was configured with the right hardware that the kernel could understand. As a matter of fact, at that time I bought the computer with no OS pre-installed. If I get another, it will need to have the same size screen and no OS installed. If Lenovo doesn’t do that, time to move on. But, where I live, 17" screens on laptops are hard to find these days. My system will probably last me a few more years, though. so there’s hope. Lenovo laptops are awesome for battery conservation, so for me that’s important.
