For the first time since the 114th Republican-led Congress, it appears that there won't be any women leading House committees, Bloomberg Government reported. Republicans have already named who they intend to take over each committee, but it won't be official until all members are sworn in on Jan. 3....

They know that, according to GOP’s leadership, they’re not even supposed to hold office? They’re supposed to be in the kitchen making sandwiches. Also popping out babies.

    And they wonder why?

44% of women aged 18-44 and 48% of women over 45 voted for a rapist to lead them. (AP Data) Like what do these voters and female Republican politicians expect at this point? DE&I is “woke” according to them, but did they also know that listening to women is “woke” to Republicans too?

“I don’t know why there wasn’t one who was able to become a chairperson of a committee…”

“We’ve never been the party that was about checking boxes or identity politics, but the difference is we have women that are qualified to be chairs, and I don’t know why there wasn’t one who was able to become a chairperson of a committee," she added.

Translation: “I never cared that my party discriminated against other people, but now they’re doing it to meeeeee!”

I know that hypocrisy is their whole thing, but it’s still hard to wrap my mind around a Republican genuinely believing that they’re not about identity politics, as if that isn’t what their entire platform is based on.

Republicans have always been fans of turning real things into incorrectly used buzz words. “Identity politics” means “changing the status quo to include others,” and so only applies to Democrats. “Catering exclusively to bigoted white Christian nationalists who openly want to establish a theocracy” doesn’t count by that metric.

They thought they were one of the good ones, in the minority group.

Same thing with the log cabin Republicans doing the surprised_pikachu.jpg when the GOP passed them over for everything.
