    Isn’t ChatGPT in sidebar enough for “adding AI in browser”? :/

    Well actually if there was something like Edge Copilot in Vivaldi sidebar, which can access all page content, it would be very cool to ask him to just “summarize current page”

    @[email protected] I totally agree, but I do want to present a real good use case for ai not related to browser specific use, and even borderline privacy violating.

    About 16 months ago I became very sick. Amongst things diabetes type 2 with a lot of complications. Using LLMs to translate complicated medical texts and even prepare me for interviews by doctors has been very helpful. Nothing that a good team of doctors can’t do, but well we all know how busy society is.

    Use it sparingly, but keep it outside 😅

    @[email protected] The clarity of communication here about what LLMs are and why they have no place in the browser is commendable. Having found the Vivaldi source code as available is reassuring. Vivaldi is building a credible replacement for Firefox. Does it implement addons (or build in) like ublock-origin? The web with ads is unbearable.

    It seems like most of the tech industry has decided AI LLMs are a hammer and every possible technology is a nail. I don’t want to use an LLM in my browser until the specific issues you and Vivaldi raise are addressed (if ever).
