It’s well documented that serial killers tend to preferentially go after the homeless, drifters, addicts, sex workers, etc because they know the law gives no shits about them and will probably not even bother to investigate beyond a superficial glance let alone actually prosecute. Those groups are effectively medieval-style outlaws that anyone can kill if they wanted to. You’ll even get police flat out saying that investigating their deaths would be “more trouble than it’s worth” or “divert resources from more pressing matters.” They’re literally viewed as subhuman in the eyes of the law.

Jordan Neely is anything but a victim of the system. Neely was a violent criminal who was given chance after chance by the system to reform himself. He was even given a place to stay by the court but he left after a week. As the British would say Neely was a wasteman. Neely had over 40+ arrests and had a long history of violence sure he had a rough childhood and the drug addiction but there are plenty of who have that and don’t grow up to menaces to society like Neely.

Daniel Penny was completely in the right and did nothing wrong. Neely was threatening everyone in that train and punched an elderly woman in the face. All Daniel Penny did was what the police should have done. Frankly, the only victims of the system here are the people of New York who had to deal with Neely’s reign of Terror.

“innocent man with a wife and kids!”

So you don’t matter unless someone out there wants to fuck you, and causing people’s deaths and disabilities is just so innocent!

A well written article, thank you for sharing. I think this did a better job of characterizing why people are so frustrated than most things I’ve seen.

There’s been lots of critisisms of how callus the collective response has been, but at it’s core, the anger folks have really isn’t about worshipping a killer, it’s about how humanity seems to belong exclusively to the rich. All while they systematically deprive the poor of their basic human dignity and at times, even lives.

We don’t known if he didn’t job but the pigs turned him into a martyr.

Also, I don’t care if he denial that claim but they need to prove and so far it looks more like a smear campaign than a prosecution. And I took that personally.

One of these men is an alleged hero.

The other is exactly what our society rewards most:

    A sociopath.
