Fight for Bikes is meeting on the South Lawn of Queen’s Park on Saturday 23rd at 2pm. After a few speeches at the park, we will split into three groups to bike down University, Yonge and Bloor. Bring your bikes if you have them!

I hope there’s another massive turnout.

I do hope that these protests can extend to different municipalities in Ontario. Ford is targeting Toronto bike lanes (for now), but Bill 212 will affect everyone in the province, even if they don’t drive or bike!

Taxes under this bill will be misspent, and nobody should be OK with that.

I’m nowhere near Toronto, and I still feel like Doug Ford has put me in mortal danger by stirring up animosity towards bicyclists. There are a few drivers who really don’t appreciate being reminded that it isn’t strictly necessary to haul around two tons of steel and plastic everywhere you go, and their mindless rage at having to go six inches out of their way to leave room for a bicycle on a road where there’s plenty of room (again, not Toronto) will probably kill me some day.

I hope it works but I highly doubt it unless you can convince the buffoon there’s lots of money to be made from cycling.

I hope it works too, but IMO it’s not just a matter of this one protest or just Bill 212. Doug Ford has been using these tactics in many other areas and it will take a concerted, persistent effort to bring attention to them and generally fight against this style of conservatism. I’m in it for the long run because the US has shown us what’s in store if we don’t protest at all.
