Dark Souls 2 (SOTFS at least) is great before you even reach Majula. My only complaint is that Iron Keep’s location makes absolutely zero sense
Edit: oh let me just take this elevator up to the top of this windmill, oh what’s that, I’m deep underground in hell now?
It’s the perfect hiding spot!

(See I always thought the elevator was taking you up to the rim of a caldera and the volcanic activity was why the soil was rich in the harvest valley)
