Wasn’t that an accident for most of them? Like someone said he was a WWII vet but then left out the part where he was German or something?

He was Ukranian I think, fighting the Soviets so that was the angle they were going with the current Ukraine situation. But they forgot to think about what side was fighting the Soviets in WW2 lol

I just started For All Mankind, and just watched the scene were Von Braun is all “I chose America!!!” and I couldn’t stop thinking about why that was, exactly.

On that note, if you “forgot” who was fighting Soviets in WW2 you’re not fit for government.

The forgetting is that the Ukranians weren’t all fighting as the Soviets they were forced to be and were fighting with the invader of the oppressor.

Shitty all around. Wasted opportunity to learn because here we are.

And fuck Poilievre, his bully politics, and all the upcoming Canadian negative voters who will flock to him because he’s not Justin and his carbon tax bullshit. Trump Nation 2.0 and I’ll be just as mad at my own as I am at Americans now.

I feel that’s really targeting a single incident in order to redirect the attention away from the environment in which that error was made. Like the cons are so eager to find fault in Justin so we’ll forget the hateful and shady shit they pull on the daily that they’re virtue-signalling hard on this one.

Either way, adult shit like keeping the country going during a lethal global pandemic and improving the economy and trying to cling to the paris accords despite the O&G sector’s machinations, that’ll be less important than theatrical make-up and letting someone’s uncle be recognized inappropriately.

All I’m going to say, as a Canadian, is that if someone were to plan a protest where we all “went dark” for a day to protest something… I would participate.

Canada is likely going to swing conservative in the next election. Trudeau was wildly unpopular, and the NDP are likely going to end up splitting the vote.

… because no one is reminding us of the things the cons have done, and the fact that “fuck trudeau and the country he leads” is the entirety of their platform.

Trust me, I know the only thing Conservatives stand for is deviding the people while they fill their pockets but we’ve seen how well that works unfortunately.

He was very popular for a long time. He’s been PM under 3 US presidents so far: Obama (only for a few months), Trump (part 1), Biden, and will probably be in for part of Trump’s second term.

Like all leaders, people get tired of them. That’s especially true when there’s a global inflation crisis, and every local leader gets blamed as if it’s their fault.

I think he’s been… fine. There have been some minor scandals, but just the typical stuff where the government helps out politically connected companies. Other than that it’s extremely minor stuff like sticking his tongue out in a playful way in parliament, dressing in Indian traditional costumes on a visit to India, taking a vacation at a place owned by a rich friend. Some of the legislation he passed has been good, like legalizing marijuana, implementing a carbon tax, and a major infrastructure bill. Some has been stupid like the “online news” act that tried to get Facebook and Google to pay the major Canadian for-profit news companies for linking to their stuff… rather than addressing the actual issue of their monopolies.

I don’t think the Liberal party is particularly inspiring. OTOH, they’re so much better than the conservatives. But, because Trudeau reneged on his promise to get rid of First Past The Post elections, they’re going to be his downfall in the next election where the left-wing vote is going to split between the NDP and the Liberals, handing the Conservatives a big majority.
