I mean…they’re trolling, but they also aren’t wrong. America have now twice ran a female candidate against trump, and twice lost. People forget that trump did not run for president 3 times. He’s run for president 5 times.

That means he’s lost 3 times when his competition were men. He won both times his competition were women. With the latest round even getting the popular vote.

America is sending a clear signal that they DON’T want a woman as president. Whether you personally agree or not, is irrelevant. People made their choices heard at the polls this past week. The results have shown that we want a facist dictator to rule with an iron fist, who’s in charge of everything. Who appoints lifelong judges. Who decides how overseas wars will be handled. With no red tape. With no restrictions. With no checks or balances.

America twice were given the choice of him, or a woman. Both times, they chose him. This will completely set women candidates back 20 years. AOC, Elizabeth Warren, these are people who just watched any chance they had in the distant future of being president vanish in 1 night.

This is not an invasion. I don’t see any evidence of election tampering. I don’t see any fraud. I only see a stupid public. Nobody forced this on us. We chose this. America chose this.

If you’ve seen any of my other long winded posts the past few days, yes I am repeating myself. I’m just in shock that America chose this.

So, the taliban saying America isn’t ready for a woman…they aren’t wrong. They’re assholes, and they’re absolutely trolling. But they aren’t wrong. America chose this…

Uh… He literally didn’t, though. He participated in two primaries before 2016, but he never actually ran as the presidential nominee for any party. Trump won twice and lost once, and coincidentally that once was the one time the DNC ran a serious candidate with a real platform that appealed to voters against him. The similarity that the two times they ran fucking jokes they were both women is simply not anything more than correlation here.

      • Correlation != Causation
      • It’s a small sample size
      • Consider the source poking fun - are they interested in a proper diagnosis to fix the issue, or merely casting aspersions? Don’t allow them to “control the conversation”, even borne out of grief rather than malice.
      • Frankly, Kamala Harris might have done better than Joe Biden, due to factors including his age and direct involvement in the situations such as Israel - she may not have sufficiently distanced herself from him, but he would have had a significantly harder time distancing himself from himself, especially given as he seemed to not plan on changing anything about his approaches.
      • I’m not convinced that “Trump won” so much as “Democrats lost”, though not quite in the same sense as the last time with Clinton. Disinformation campaigns were in full force, combined now with (partial) shutting down of more traditional avenues of news, some possibly politically related, others sadly could be due to pure greed, e.g. Biden spent months working with railway workers who wanted to strike, but the media hardly mentioned that (Lemmy is an odd mixture combining both sources of disinformation / alternative “facts” as well as alternate avenues to find real information such as that).
      • Separately from all of that, yes many Americans seem not keen on the idea of a woman as President. But it may be difficult to separate that from all of the other factors. Though those factors are not entirely unrelated either, bc conservatives love to “divide” the population, whereas liberals try to “unite” it, and yet ironically that did not work out all that well when it came time to vote. Also, part of what I’m saying is that while Harris may not have lost due to her being a woman, yes the likes of AOC may be prevented from winning in the future due to being such - and yet she leans more towards Bernie Sanders, who likewise kept losing, even as a man? We probably all should rewatch the Innuendo Studios’ The Alt Right Playbook, or watch the first time if someone hasn’t seen it yet. For those people: the plug for it is that it will help make sense of what happened to have led us here, as well as what is about to come. TLDR for it: conservatives lie, it’s what they do, and mostly they don’t even know they are doing it, but it’s up to us who are willing to see more clearly, and wake up to what’s happening even as they dig their heads further deeper into the ground to hide from the truth.

And as for the pedophilia stuff, he hung out with Epstein a lot and was known for barging into the Miss Teen USA dressing room unannounced, so…

I haven’t really seen it on Lemmy as much, but Kamala losing to Trump has led to a lot of incredibly racist discussions on Reddit and Twitter. There was a very popular reddit thread the other day discussing how to best get Hispanics deported to punish them for voting for trump.

Feels like there’s an increasingly strong idea that racism is ok as long as it’s targeting at undesirable people, as if that’s a new concept and isn’t how racism has always been justified.

To racist it’s always justified and their target deserves it. It has never been any other way. Same with any other kinda hate and dismissal. They will always deserve it. I do a shit take, anybody who thinks it shit think I deserve the hate and ridicule. The difference is just that black man can’t stop being black, but an idiot can recant their words. The logic behind them is always the same.
Aren’t there also fanatical kamala supporters that unironically think that Kamala was the only way and anybody who thinks otherwise at least deserves to be called an idiot or maybe even deported or other things done to them. That is what it does when one falls into the idea that their deeply held subjective worldview is actually the objective truth, especially things that are fundamentally passionate and subjective like politics. From there it’s not a very long leap to think that if you are objectively right then everybody else is just wrong and they are either ignoramuses who are unwilling to be thought nor can be reasoned with, or they know the truth but are full of some malice and act against the truth anyway because of some selfish or dark reason. Both cases will logically lead into escalating violence against those who you disagree with, once you have crossed that bridge form subjectivity to objectivity. Even in things like democrats becoming the thing that many blamed the republicans were when they start to feel pressured.

Not discounting it that her gender had something to do with the result, but come on. As if she wasn’t also a genocide supporter, a political insider, held a high position in a government that oversaw a period with economic hardship for many people. Also she had an charisma of a house plant, likability of a piece of two by four and ran on a campaign that’s main message was “I’m not the the other guy”. But yes her being a black woman and people being misogynistic and racist was the main issue.

Not that I care, but nothing gets fixed if people hold these ridiculous analyses of why she lost. It will be the same mistakes done after every four years.

I think you want to direct that at the people who voted for Trump, not the people pointing out why others voted for Trump.

Unfortunately you can’t expect the entire voting public to be aware and knowledgable about all this shit, and the candidates still need to appeal to those voters to win. Which plays a decent role in why Kamala lost.

Literally no u if you think these things have anything to do with who wins a presidential election. These matter after you win (I distinguish between economics as a science and the economy itself here); who wins a presidential election is determined by how people feel about each candidate and that has nothing to do with any of the two things you listed.

What an uncreative and semi-racist insult. These people abuse and oppress women and gays, marry children, run an authoritarian theocracy and you choose to make fun of them for living in a sandy environment?
