It’s a propaganda technique called the firehose of falsehood. Trump is great at it because he’s immoral and creative enough to generate lies on the fly, and narcissistic enough to instantly believe his own BS.

    Because it works.

He may be delusional to the point of actually believing some of his bullshit, but he still (correctly) knows that lying works - and for the people who follow him, it works better than honesty or considerate thought.

Exactly. Lying is easy, especially when compared to finding or spinning truth or even admitting a disadvantageous truth. But I can’t speak for everyone but I know that many children, including me, have phases of frequent lying that end because peers and adults see through the lies and punish them. You are taught not to lie and one of the realizations is that it doesn’t work as well as honesty. Trump seems to have never had that experience. His lies have always been rewarded.

Ethics were never impressed upon him. Why would he have them? Sure some insightful folks will have a Siddhartha Gautama like realization of the personal value of an ethical life, but his soul lacks that. He is as a cancer, only sated by more no matter the cost.

Because he can. His supporters eat it up, and the press doesn’t fact check him nearly enough (or to his face).

Conservatives love of lies fits in perfectly with Trump’s lifelong pathological lying skills. I think this is a big reason Trump ran as a Republican. Dems would have spotted Trump’s character flaws way to easily for him to run as a Dem.

Q tards prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Birther kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Bircher kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Sandyhook kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Pizza kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Start the Steal kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Hermain Cain kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Pet eater kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Hurricane kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Dems-control-weather kooks prove that conservatives like to be lied to.

Trump has heard, somewhere, “Just be confident and they will believe you”. He also heard “tell them what you think they want to hear.” Trump is not intelligent, not great at speaking or arguing. But he knows how to act confident and not care. It works for him.

The listener doesn’t care if some of the things he says are inaccurate, as long as they percieve it as they generally, vaguely, agree on things. And he is confident, he will get things done, take action. The listener has also been told that democrats eat children, will murder you in your sleep and lie just as much as their guy. The listener often lacks the means to verify what is being said. But it doesn’t matter. They agree on principle.

His sycophant’s are stupid so they will believe anything. They also lack the basic ability to figure it out.

Same as the Nigerian Prince email scam. The blatant initial lie filters the credulous and leaves you with marks who will accept increasingly bigger lies.
