Imprisoning children instead of feeding them, pandering to our royal masters and sacrificing our kids in foreign wars are all signs of Australia’s distinct system of privilege.

This sort of article gets clicks, and at first this approach to writing jolts people and makes them think. But Mr Murdoch has shown for decades that once people buy in to your emotional writing enough, they actually stop thinking. Then you can drip-feed them a daily dose of outrage, bring them around to whatever cause you like and weaponise your readers.

I like my news to be boring. Just give me the bare facts. Don’t tell me how I should feel about them, I’ll make my own mind up, thank you.

Strip away the emotions of this article, and you are left with ‘We are not happy that LNP won the Queensland election. We believe that Australia should cut ties with the Monarchy and the US military. Indigenous Australians are poor and not enough is being done to correct that.’ Weirdly, none of these individual topics appear to be related to one another.

    Did I miss anything?

This article is filed under analysis. Should analysis or opinion be boring and bare facts also? I think answers to your other questions kind of flow on from there if I’m not mistaken.

Yep, and I almost hesitated to comment because of it. But then I clicked on the main “IA News” link on the homepage, and this same article is right there on the top row. Since they themselves think this is a news article, I figured my comment was justified.

You missed about how to make a living just writing bare facts. Journalists clearly are not upto the task so hopefully the tech sector can get some LLMs trained up so I get query it for information rather than the crap so called journalists currently broadcast.
