    IIRC inequality is higher than it was during the Gilded Age, so yeah.

    Sounds about right. They recently made a musical version of “The Great Gatsby” which basically threw out all of the darkness and social commentary to instead be like “yay, the gilded age was ever so much fun!” Like we’ve forgotten what “gilded age” means, and we just treat it as “golden age”. I guess that’s what those at the top want us to feel.

    Honestly the gilded age never ended. It’s always been a shitshow wrapped in a bow.

    Though they at least used to keep the bow looking nice.
