Just played a match with Bebop and I felt very limited by my powerset. It was great at first, me and my lane buddy were dominating the game. Most pushes, most kills, most souls. But once the game got to the teamfight phase, it all fell apart. The enemies stayed as far from me as they could, and I couldn’t get enough burst damage in with my hook before they ran away, and they usually had better move speed than me. It felt like my only good ability at that point was the hyper beam. And sure, I was surprisingly survivable in 1v1s, and the hyper beam could really help a push, but any time the hyper beam was on cooldown I felt like I could do nothing unless I caught an enemy alone.

How do y’all play bebop in the midgame? Are there any upgrades that make up for bebop’s weaknesses? I followed the suggested build up until I started getting my ass kicked, then switched to lifesteal. Lady Gheist and Shiv were the biggest pains in my butt.

He’s actually one of the strongest heroes in team fights. You don’t necessarily need to deal that much damage, but your one job is to hook enemies out of position and drag them into your team so they can finish him off.

If you rush mystic power and burst damage you should be dealing a ton of damage per bomb. I’ve seen builds that can guarantee a kill by double bombing with echo shard and there’s nothing you can do about it aside from stronger defense items.

Go into sandbox, unlock the flex slots from the alt menu, and figure out the nastiest setup you can come up with. Really go through every item in the shop, I bet there are several in there that make you go “ooh I wanna try that”.

Then open the build editor and work backwards from what you put in your inventory.

Divide the items into a general order in which to buy them, consider some early-game items as stopgaps to sell later, and turn it into a build you can work your way to in an actual game.

Yeah. I’ve been tweaking my builds between matches to address shortcomings that I notice while playing, and trying to stack buffs so that whatever my habitual playstyle happens to be on a given character, it becomes empowered.

The hard part is to make sure the items you buy are a sane progression, so you don’t end up underpowered at any point due to not having a good combination of items at some points, while working towards the final build.

I’m not a Bebop player, but the default item build is generally not that good for any hero. I would look around at the community builds for some ideas, and try to look for good players’ guides like Hydration, Vegas or Catgirls.

As for Bebop in mid/late I’ve seen both the double bomb build with Echo Shard and the Hyper Beam build pop off, and the gun build is also viable.

That just sounds like they adapted and you didnt adapt after that. If you find they are hiding from you then the next option would be to catch them by surprise in a teamfight

Bebop to me seems hes very reliant on his cooldowns which means youre gonna have to rely on your hook and your team to do most of the damage. Meanwhile you can use your cooldowns to burst someone down or at the very least disrupt fights, cancel out enemy pushes, etc.

As any hero game youre going to have counters so theres not much you can do to mechanically get the upper hand on some heroes so the best you can do is find the upper hand in your wits aka outsmarting your opponent or thinking creatively.

Tldr; he is def not weak. Hes just not compatible with the way you want to play him or perhaps youre not optimizing your playstyle.

I seriously doubt that he is weak. You just have to snowball early game, then remember to use ultimate to heal back up.
