        .ml = Marxist-Leninist

        It’s a pretty far left default instance with minimal/no moderation. It also federated directly with lemmygrad.ml which is constantly spewing pro-Putin conspiracy theories.

        Don’t get me wrong, I’m fairly leftist myself, but it’s pretty strongly biased, even for me.

          ohhhh… that explains a lot. I thought .ml meant Machine Language (and no, I don’t know why I thought that). OK, your clarification makes sense

    Nope, it never will. It will be exactly the same number as it is today and nothing more :P

    I’m new lol. It certainly has potential. What will probably happen is there will be one instance of lemmy that branches off on its own, presents itself as a neutral reddit-like site, and when enough people get sick of reddit, they’ll run there without even knowing it’s part of fediverse. Although it may not be, because who knows if a politically neutral site would be allowed to overshadow the various extremist (and obsessed) political factions out there.

    Or it could work out like discord, with everyone starting their own forum. “Cars and Trucks” forum “Retro gaming forum” some invite only some open to the public. Hard to really predict the future. But decentralized will certainly gain traction.
