In a statement to mark Kachin Martyrs' Day on 10 August 2024, the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) Central Committee called on different ethnic groups to not fight against each other. A statement from the KIO Central Committee said: "We are dedicated to avoiding actions that might cause inter-tribal conflict and bloodshed, and we are committed to preserving ethnic unity in our struggle.” The statement also said that ethnic armed groups must unite and fight against the military regime whilst avoiding territorial disputes and expanding into each other’s areas.
