Saturday morning cartoons were not complete without some Ghost Busters. Granted, no one knows what the hell I’m talking about anymore, but it was a good time.

The Real Ghostbusters was always one of my favorites growing up, or Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters, think they added Slimer (the name to title) later but it’s been awhile. It was on streaming a number of years back, least in Canada. The guy who voiced Venkman also voiced Garfield if I’m remembering correctly.

Quality aside, every new Ghostbusters property without Harold Ramis wounds me a little…

Ramis wasn’t in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon from the 80s, which was very good until the network lobotomized it in the third season.

I didn’t know that. I guess my brain filled in animated Egon from the game and assumed the cartoon was him too.

The fellow who voiced the cartoon did model his performance on Ramis, so it’s understandable.

Side note: I’d always assumed I was making that up–that it really wasn’t good and my child self maybe just outgrew it–but I rewatched it as an adult when my son was about eight and I was kind of surprised, and vindicated, that it really was a good show and the network really did dumb it down midway through it’s run.

That’s true for everything Harold Ramis touched. That being said I really enjoyed the most recent films. The second weaker than the first but still enjoyable.

If it is done right, it could be very good, but I think they are going to go the kid and super family-friendly version, and it’s not gonna be good.
