After an attempt on his life two weeks ago, Donald J. Trump called for national unity. But he told the crowd at a campaign event on Saturday, “No, I haven’t changed.”

What he’s promising is a system like that in Russia, where there are still elections, but peoples’ votes no longer determine who will hold power. In short a managed democracy where the consent of the governed is no longer material.

    I was at breakfast today overhearing the table behind me talking about how great Vance was, how his wife is a “pure blooded Indian”, and he has so many kids and is perfect to take over from Trump. I think they overheard my partner and I talking too, I had mentioned what Trump said about fixing it so we don’t have to vote after the election and then noticed them not talking for awhile after being very loud. Then they started talking about how people who play video games are drug addicts who should be sent to rehab camps with the homeless after Trump gets elected. They overheard my partner and I talking about gaming together. So ya, fucking stay frosty people because its getting scary out there. This might really be the last election we get.

      I’ve been advising everyone I know who isn’t a white cis hetero evangelical Trump lover to start taking care online. VPN and anonymize in any online discussion where you aren’t actively pandering to the next Nazi class.

    Charitably, I think from the context that Trump was saying “you won’t have to vote after this election, since I won’t be running and I don’t give a shit about you or anyone else that comes after me.”

    But less charitably, this motherfucker instigated Jan 6, and he’ll absolutely try to overthrow democracy again. Fuck this guy.

        I’m surprised I haven’t seen a single news story about Trump saying “I’m not Christian”. I’d think his supporters wouldn’t give a shit about him saying they wouldn’t need to vote again after this, but admitting that he’s not Christian should ruffle some feathers.

      That’s what I think he meant too… You’ll not have to vote again because when I’m done with it… it’ll be fixed. And I’ll also not care in 4 years as I won’t be able to run anyway…

      But what the blathering oaf said was vastly different.

    It’s not necessary to vote.
    It’s not like voting helps.
    You can’t vote anymore.
