“Unless you’re a psycho or a crazy person or a very stupid person, who would say that, anyway?” Trump said, referring to his alleged comments.

Why, yes Donny. That is correct. Only a psycho or a crazy person or a very stupid person would say that. So glad we can finally agree on something.

And I might believe your defence of Donald Trump if you were speaking as someone with ASPD or on the schizophrenia spectrum. But since you have no relevant lived experience, I’m going to ignore you saying it’s okay when Trump uses a slur against people like me.

That doesn’t sound at all, in any way whatsoever, like defending Trump. Like, I’m not even sure how anyone who speaks even basic English would think that is somehow defending Trump. It would take extreme cognitive difficulty to interpret it that way instead of the person attacking you for being absolutely ridiculous.

The funny thing is they could forever leave the “draft dodger” conversation in the dust if they just stopped nominating people over 70. But they just can’t help clinging to power by forcing us to vote for the lesser of two geriatrics.

There hasn’t been a conscription since 1972. Anyone 18 at that time is now 70+. Let it go old folks. Just fade away peacefully. Enjoy your retirement. You can have a nice time without being inflamed by facebook posts to try to start a racewar.

They NEED majority retirement laws. They could soften up the pain by phasing it in as the old ones die out, thus increasing the odds that the old jackasses in power will actually adopt it.

And it needs to be in the constitution, and quick.

Just imagine what horrors would show up if we extend life (even if only for the super wealthy) to 150, 200, more?

People could consolidate power and hold onto it for centuries, not just decades.

The irony is that the right is accelerating the demise of democracy by promoting the very hatred and bigotry the media and powers that be (Russia/China) want. It’s all just distraction away from the continued separation of wealth. But Republicans can’t seem to understand this.

It’s not that the entire mainstream media is in on it, only the billionaires that own it. The editors and journalists go against their best interests because they have no one else who will pay them. The liberal press isn’t profitable, so the billionaires are trying to make them accomplices in their own destruction.

The thing is, Trump fans are as immune to facts, even after being presented with them, as Rogan fans (of course, there’s a huge overlap between them). They could be given a time machine trip back to see Trump say it themselves and Trump would say, “fake news!” and they would believe him.

No evidence in the world can convince you if you have faith.

Trump fans are as immune to facts

Because this brand of conservatism is not one of reason and logic, it’s not about policy and political action, it’s about emotion.

The people attached to MAGA are the same people who were fanatical about Wrestlemania and didn’t care if it was real or not, because it was real to them and they wouldn’t take any criticism or people telling them it’s not real because it was all they had, it was their storyline, it was raw emotion and easy-to-follow narratives of good versus evil. Trumpers are in that same state of both knowing that they are just part of a fantasy, but also embracing that fantasy as a reality.

We tend to develop very black-and-white views of the role of logic and reason in our world, but the brain doesn’t even work on logic and reason, it works by inventing a story to explain how you feel, it writes a narrative to explain your emotions or sensations and that narrative doesn’t even need to make sense, it just needs to connect, and you will embrace that narrative because it feels like it makes sense. This is how you have very book-smart people like doctors and nurses becoming anti-vax, conspiracy embracers, because they are humans and have emotional issues, and a brain that will write a story (or attach to a provided story) to explain those emotions.

It’s not that they’re immune to facts, it’s that they’ll see the fact and just willingly lie because they think they have the overall high ground and believe they’re trolling right along trump to own you.

Yes! Exactly! Trump tells on himself so often that every other sentence is a confession. Recently he accused Biden of doing nothing but stealing credit. Back in 2016 there were clips going around of him saying (among other things) that the economy does better under the democrats. I wish that one had circulated more than “grab her by the pussy” because I think it would’ve diffused his base more.

Trump unintentionally said a very based thing.

Only a psycho would challenge an institution of power in a runup to the election, or in a position of governance.

At the end of the day, one of the reasons armies even exist at this point is because any politician who may have political will to truly challenge the army and demilitarize would face an armed resistance and violent overthrow, which necessitates the proliferation of an institution that by itself is hugely harmful and parasitic.

The power of the rulers is held on violence, and any attempt to change the status quo will be challenged by the people extorting us all using the real power, equipped with weapons able to kill everyone on Earth.

In some ways, it’s the army that controls the rulers, not the other way around. And the former will do everything to keep holding to their control - and to keep existing even when they shouldn’t.

Historically fool was also used for people with metal disabilities. Same as idiot, dolt, simpleton, dumb, and virtually every other word we have for “crazy” and “stupid”

Besides which, crazy people aren’t necessarily stupid people, so fool wouldn’t work for that.

Ableist use of the world fool is so rare I’ve never heard of it before today. The usage referring to the job fool is much more common, and thus the word is much less offensive than ps*cho. If we’re trying to avoid harm, we should choose the least offensive word, right? Or just not use that kind of word at all.

I don’t think Mr T feels that way. It’s about learning to draw the feeling of your insults from a new source. See, we have a language of reference to cultural ideas just like Star Trek’s Tamarians. Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra. Ours is just less concrete. When you use the word ps*cho, it hits hard because you’re drawing on cultural hatred and fear of psychotic and ASPD people. Society doesn’t feel as strongly about court fools, and that’s why nobody feels their sense of hatred light up in reaction to the word. But if the only reason your insults hit hard is because everyone hates mentally ill people, you’re using the wrong insults.
