I packed my Farpoint 40 for two weeks in Alaska. It was more full than I would like. In order to fit my dress shoes, I put three pairs of socks (rolled) in each shoe.

What do you do to save space?

I once tightly rolled my dress shirt and dress pants into my dress shoes to save space. I knew I’d need to iron them before wearing them anyway, and it actually worked really well!

If I have extra shoes or sandals I’ll strap them to the outside of the pack.

    I also use a single compact fast-charging usb-c charger.

Toiletries can take up unnecessary space. I use a small bar of soap for both my body and hair instead of bringing shampoo. For shaving I ditch the handle and use a small tin of shave butter instead of a can of shaving cream.

Other than that, I just take less clothes than I think I’ll need. I only take 2 t-shirts and a tank top when I go for backpacking trips. I just do laundry in the sink every couple days and it’s great!

Not bringing the razor handle is a good idea. My shaving needs are minimal so that would work for me.

Compression stuff sacks/packing cubes! You can squish those socks/underwear/t shirts/pants down to like half their loose size.

    • Prepare to wash my clothes whilst traveling
    • Try to avoid bringing additional footwear, or west bulkier ones whilst traveling
    • Packing cubes if necessary (less so now)
    • Opt for a bag with less internal compartments
