Ima make a sweeping statement that this won’t do shit in the long run. Please make me eat my sneakers.
Looks like you gotta eat your sneakers. Please do it. For democracy.
It’s kinda amazing this game even did so well. Kernel level anti cheat. Broken as fuck at launch. Just stuck in menus for hours. Arrowhead honestly lucked out they even got this much popularity.
Helps that the game is fun, and after the launch issues. Very stable for the most part.
The game did the most basic thing and they nailed it; it’s fun. The rest is noise.

I wasn’t even aware until after I had installed it tbh. My own fault of course but I had already tried out valorant so…
I played his game for two hours but it seemed like progression system is so barebone that playing is pointless and also high level people were just using airstrikes and killing everything before you even shoot
I don’t know much about Helldivers. Why the sudden spike in negative reviews?
They (Arrowhead + Sony) decided to make ps plus sign in mandatory on pc, a change as it was optional since release. Ps plus is not available in like 2/3rds of the planet.
Thereby locking out loads of people who have been brought the game. They (Arrowhead + Sony) decided to make ps plus sign in mandatory on pc
Just to clarify, PS Plus is not required to play Helldivers 2 on PC. PS Plus is the upgraded, paid version of the PSN subscription. A free PSN account (which is not the same as a PS Plus account) is required.
I know I’m nitpicking, but this is a big issue at the moment for a lot of players, and I want to make sure everybody’s making a properly educated decision with their money.
Lmao if they required a PS plus sub that would actually be hilarious :')
That’s the long term plan they won’t admit. And that’s why it’s important to fight these kinds of changes. They want to take enough inches that they’ll have a mile.
And forcing an account on PC players that bought it through steam, which has no need for their servers to collect even more data.
A simple google search shows Sony’s inability to keep any of their user data secure, so it only adds yet another avenue of your PII to be leaked and abused by third parties.
“Everything was working fine and we couldn’t have that, now could we?”
It was stated on the steam page that it required a psn account from before the release. It was disabled during launch week because of technical issues.
Aka they knew we’d lose our minds during the server issues and everything if logging in and waiting on PSN approval was required also.
Yep, glad to see they’re backpedaling on the decision
And Sony going full Sony with their cheeky comment suggesting between the lines to violate their own terms suggesting players can register while “on vacation” to one of the supported countries.
From the company that can’t make a good movie with the Spider-Man IP and gave us Morbius and Madame Web… More brilliant decisions.

Arrowhead made the deal with Sony to have them handle publishing (customer support, server infrastructure, etc) while Arrowhead gets to focus on developing the game. Part of this deal was a requirement for players to have/use a PSN account.
Arrowheads CEO knew of this requirement at least 6 months prior to release (by his own admission) but bypassed it temporarily to get the game out.
At the same time, Sony as the publisher allowed the game to be sold in regions that don’t support the PSN network; meaning players/customers in those regions are now locked out of the game they’ve purchased. Sony could relax this requirement, even just limited to those that purchased before the requirement was enforced, but so far they have not.

It was Arrowheads decision to disable/not implement the PSN integration, despite knowing well in advance of release it would be required to fulfill their contractual obligations.
It was also Arrowheads decision to partner with Sony, while knowing the terms of that agreement included a requirement to implement PSN integration.

No, I’m not.
I’m also not saying Arrowhead is entirely responsible for the situation.
As I stated above; Sony, as the publisher, was responsible for allowing sales in regions they could not service.
Sony could also relax their requirements, but despite our distaste, aren’t obliged to.
Arrowhead is not faultless either. They created a partnership, signed an agreement and did not follow through with their side of said agreement. They should have had PSN integration working before release, but they didn’t.
Sony isn’t the ‘bad guy’ for wanting what was agreed to. Though they should have been more diligent on the distribution end. (and should 100% be responsible for refunds in regions they can’t service).
Meme hill to die on
I feel really bad for arrowhead.
geez this game was hot shit and i almost bought in. Glad i procrastinated.
The game is still good. If this gets resolved in a good way, I hope you give it a go!
Sony literally doesn’t give two shits about anyone but themselves, so seems unlikely it’s going to change, sadly
It did!
Yeah, that’s really surprising, I’m glad they came around!
