almostdefinitely is. This happened with the last big Australian fires too. Here’s a an actual satellite photo of the Australian fires with overlaid red dots from NASA data for comparison.Note the complete lack of smoke or cloud obscuring anything in the OP image.

Yeah, looks like a nighttime image of the island with some smoke added to it.
