I really miss Jim Varney.
The feeling is mutual. He belongs to that same mural that includes Bob Ross, Steve Irwin, Mr. Rogers, and Jim Henson.
The feeling is mutual.
Jim Varney misses tenthrow?
Would never have guessed, but he was enamored with the guy.
I would like to see some of his Shakespearean work, too. I bet it was awesome!
Haha Awesome!
He got me.
Right, Vern?
OHHH GOOD FOR YOU
“Knowhattamean?”
I would have paid good money to see a slapstick buddy comedy with Jim Varney and Jim Carey. Imagine the hijinks…
Plus this wonderful man:
Why does it feel like they didn’t exist in the same universe?
Not so much for me. I was watching the works of both growing up. They occupied different territory, most certainly. Williams’ manic improvisation VS Varney’s developed and consistent characterization. They had their niche and were both tragically cut short, respectively. Also worth noting Paul Reubens in that conversation, with slightly more mixed opinions.
I put on Pee-Wee’s big adventure the other day just to see how it hold up and was amazed at the number of lines that were a huge part of my childhood. So much of his banter was gold for kids to repeat ad nauseum.
“Which one is not like the other”
Okay, which one of you is throwing his voice?
Don’t Betaze me bro
I’m going to have to watch Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam again.
It’s been so long, though I assume most are thinking of a different Dr. Otto these days:
Nothing against Alfred Molina, a powerhouse in his own right.
Most people who are old enough to remember when Ernest had his own Saturday Morning show have never heard of that movie. You basically had to be lucky enough to find the right video store and then realize it was the ‘Ernest’ guy. I also don’t believe it’s ever gotten a decent release since, but I could be wrong.
However-
Already belongs to public domain? Yeesh, lots of confidence there.
That’s the Internet Archive for you. People are uploading tons of movies and there’s no moderation. It’s going to be taken down sooner rather than later and it’s a damn shame.
“You have two daughters. One of them good, one of them bad. And wouldn’t you know it, the good one dies!”
