    I refuse to believe that any data they harvest from gig workers will come close to covering their overhead costs, much less generate a profit.

    I absolutely believe that the founders will make out like bandits before this is either acquired by a bigger dumber company, or shuttered.

      It’s probably more about the data they can get about the people the gig workers are working for.

    The startup makes money by selling workers’ data to companies that offer benefits to gig workers.

    I too want to get some of them benefits from MasterCard.

        If you choose to use the toilets in the base area, the first time you do it there’s a scene where you’re told the scientists will be collecting samples every time you go and encourage you to use the facilities frequently. Coupled with the fact there is hella product placement in some versions of the game where the main consumable item is literally Monster Energy Drink makes it feel more dystopian as Monster R&D people use that data to engineer Monster that doesn’t make your pee glow green.
