An apparent Israeli airstrike killed four international aid workers with the World Central Kitchen charity and their Palestinian driver late Monday, hours after the group brought in a new shipload of food by a maritime route the United States has hoped would be an alternative lifeline for northern Gaza, isolated and pushed to the brink of famine by Israel’s offensive.
Footage showed the bodies of the five dead at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza town of Deir al-Balah. Several of them wore protective gear with the charity’s logo. Staff showed the passports of three of the dead – British, Australian and Polish. The nationality of the fourth aid worker was not immediately known.
The Israeli military said it was conducting a review “to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.”
The “circumstances” are that IDF has a history of murdering non-combatants. Especially those who can be plainly identified by their dress and activities as being reporters, aid workers, and even escaped Israeli hostages. Either they’re doing it deliberately, or they’re trigger happy incompetents. Or some of both.
I just chalk it up to the IDF being murderous, genocidal assholes.
That’s a good starting baseline.
No doubt it’s intentional. But the excuse would be that it’s actually militants disguised as civilians relaying information or supplies to other militants disguised as civilians. And because they have no way of knowing which civilian is a militant in disguise, all civilians are therefore militants.
That’s why you kill anything that moves. You don’t know if that bag floating in the wind is actually hiding hamas/s.
It’s not even the first time they’ve hit food distribution. At best they have no discretion. At worst, they’re targeting them.
Fuck Israel.
Israel tends to own up when it messes up to their credit and haven’t in this case which makes me wonder.
Because the death toll is up to seven now and Israel is supposedly “still checking”. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-airstrike-gaza-kills-foreign-aid-workers-hamas-run-media-office-says-2024-04-01/
