You can’t convince me we aren’t on some sort of prison planet experiment. The most common theme throughout all of human history is suffering. It doesn’t matter where, when, or why, there will always be some degenerate ghouls fucking people over. In this case, the demons that set up the system so that the most vulnerable literally need to give their blood to pay rent. It’s fucking disgusting.

Location dependent. Here in he midwest you can make around 400 something a month doing this 2 times a week.

2 times a week?! Over here you aren’t allowed to donate plasma more than once every month (and you obviously don’t get paid for it)

Are you sure you aren’t thinking of blood? We have that limitation on blood. But I know most of the rest of the world doesn’t get paid. You don’t for blood here.

No. “Donating” that often is illegal in civilization because it has proven and sometimes severe negative benefits over a long period. Not even accounting for the risk of death from embolism for $50.

That’s why Grifols had to move their operations from Spain to America.

…what? Donating blood is a perfectly common thing in “civilization” including spain. The benefits to the recipients far outweigh the risks to the donator.

I think you’ve missed the “that often”. Civilized countries want the donor’s body to recover from the donation. “Civilized” countries allow shorter recovery periods because the “donor” needs the money from the “donation” to pay rent.

Oh, I read that as “Donating that” where that=blood. Explains a lot, yea. The limit here in germany for blood was very few times per year too. Plasma was allowed a lot more frequently though.

They plasma they take isn’t used in hospitals or shit, it’s used in labs to make new drugs and shit for profit.

I get that, but if a company is going to use my blood for profit I should see some of that, I shouldn’t be expected to pay my rent or feed myself with that, those are much bigger problems. Perhaps the word “donation” is a bit out of place on the ad, but it’s the most recognizable term for the action.

I mean you totally should do it, a number of people will die without access to the medication it makes.

It sucks that they’re in so short supply they have to offer so much money and that people are so poor they need it to survive.

But my little needle scars don’t harm me any.

I mean we are in permanent undersupply.

So everyone that is willing should do it. If everyone did it once a month we wouldn’t need multi week people, but all we can really get is impoverished people doing it a ton.

You’re saying “we.” Are you involved in plasma collection/donation drives/however I should phrase that?

If so, I’m curious about something. I’m gay, and sexually active. I have protected sex, and I’m on prep. I do have multiple partners, though. Should I donate? Because I’ve always used the whole gay ban as an excuse not to, because I truly despise needles to a phobia level. But I’d like to help if I can.

Oh I donated plasma when I could so that’s why I use “we”. I’m too sick now, but you almost certainly can volunteer at blood drives to help and the like, can even help organize them if you have access to a public space. You should reach out.

Without approving of the American dystopia of paying for plasma donations, can I still say thank you to those that “donate” their plasma so that important medications can be made?

I have received a somewhat unusual vaccination and my antibodies were valuable to a drug company for a while. They were paying 120$ for plasma for a while and you could go 2x a week. The plasma center, like most, wasn’t in the best neighborhood and the cash was doled out be an ATM like machine when you were finished. Well 120 took a hell of a lot more “kachunks” that 15 did and by the time you got your cash there was a whole room full of pissed off desperate folks staring at you. Not that fun.

I have had to sell plasma to make ends meet in my life and I know what those people must have been feeling watching some kid in nice clothes get paid 10x what they were for the same unpleasant procedure. Fucking rough. I used the money to buy a house. They would be lucky to get a groceries out of the deal

I used to sell plasma to pay for gas for polyamory. Also for job interviews.

Anyways that’s why I’ve got a track mark on one arm despite being allergic to opiates
