The United States seems to always have disproportionately high rates of things that kill people compared to other developed nations. 🤔

They hit the nail on the head with comments. I see so many people just squatting on city pages ready to jump down anyone’s throats who even begin to say that cars might be a problem.

Pedestrians? Fuck you you’re in my way.

    Trains? Fuck you libbrals

Busses? What to bring more undesirables in?

Not in my back yard! And hey not in yours either! (Seriously a good chunk of them don’t even live in the city)

It’s toddler-like behaviour. They don’t even realize how it would benefit them, because they are so short-sighted.

Seriously, transit helps even car drivers but they don’t see it at all. More trains and busses mean less cars. Less traffic, less demand for parking. It’s a win win for everyone.

My city has extra taxes because we’re investing in rail and infrastructure and people are just so freaking bitchy about it. “I’m not even going to use it!!!”. Right, but other people will, and that will make the city easier to use for everyone.

Cue them bitching on other posts about “I never go into the city there’s no parking!!” or “I can’t go to concerts it takes too long to get in and out”. Have you thought about parking and riding into the city?!

Car brains get stuck behind a bus once and think that transit is the only thing that slowed them down that day. Get stuck at a red light? Thats just life, but a bus is unacceptable.

They don’t factor how many cars that bus is replacing. They don’t consider that if we actually built bus lanes and properly built stops, they wouldn’t get stuck behind the bus.

Of course. These kinds of people would rather cable news tell them what to think than really think any of this through themselves, and cable news doesn’t care to address any of these points. And as far as they’re concerned, people like you and me aren’t as qualified as the talking head on tv to tell them otherwise.

So much of it stems from just getting angry that someone else is progressing while they’re stuck in traffic. Yes, the segregated bike lanes and mass transit will improve thoroughfares for car traffic, but motorists seeing cyclists, pedestrians, and trains get ahead of them just get angry

In America, the possibility to kill somebody is essentially one the highest priorities when it comes to “fReEdOm.”
