Meat eaters all have the same 3 jokes and they’re all retarded. Embrace the possibility of not having a permanently soft dick and start eating plants.

See this is what I don’t get about vegans or vegeterians. They buy these products that all resemble meat products in one way or another, but then complain if you eat meat 🤔. Apparently, they like to eat meat as well, they just wanna be posh about it while eating fake meat.

The plant-based product is more environmentally friendly and doesn’t kill an animal.

I don’t know how that’s hard to grasp, good luck out there friend.

The animal wouldn’t be alive in the first place if we weren’t intending to eat it

            That’s sort of the point.

Instead of water, land and resource use growing corn and soybeans and supplements to raise a calf to slaughter weight, just eat the vegetables.

One of the most environmentally friendly things you can do.

Hard to grasp as in, you’re against animal cruelty, but still, you’d like to eat products that resemble meat… that’s like me giving up sex with real people, but I decide just to use fuck dolls… am I really not having sex? Have you seen how lifelike some of these dolls can be?

This seems pretty simple to me, plant based alternatives looking like meat doesn’t make them equitable to animal cruelty.

It’s the pretend part that’s confusing to me. Why actually eat something shaped and tasting like what carnivores eat. Why does it have to resemble meat products? You obviously don’t like hurting animals, why pretend that an animal died to serve you this meal.

A vegan earlier explained it to me that these are mostly things that vegans would eat at carnivore social events, like barbecues, in which case, yes, it does make sense.

Do you not get cravings for food?

Eating is enjoyable, and to eat different foods is a different experience. Different smells, tastes, textures. Some people enjoy the experience of eating meat, they enjoy the taste, the texture. When they quit eating meat for ethical issues they still remember that they enjoyed meat.

So if you enjoy eating meat and only stopped due to the ethical issues, why wouldn’t you create a substitute?

It’s like a lesbian! Just because you aren’t attracted to a man, or don’t want to be with one, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a dildo.

Do you not get cravings for food?

This may sound weird, but actually, no, I don’t. I eat what I’m served… or whatever I cooked and saved in the freezer (I cook in large pots so I don’t have to cook every day, freeze the rest)… or whatever everyone else agrees upon, I’m always fine with whatever everyone else is having. If everyone pushes me to order something different, I just pick the first or second thing on the menu, makes no difference to me, I eat anything, as long as it has vegetables in it. Doesn’t have to have meat, but veggies, yes.

I do get cravings for things, like once a year I wanna eat a burger or an ice cream… and then I’m done for the year. I still haven’t eaten ice cream this year, not once.

And if I don’t buy whatever it is I was craving for in the next few days, the craving goes away and that’s that.

I like eating tasty food, but the food I eat doesn’t necessarily have to be tasty. Food is like a means to an end for me. I’m hungry, I eat 🤷.

Eating is enjoyable, and to eat different foods is a different experience. Different smells, tastes, textures. Some people enjoy the experience of eating meat, they enjoy the taste, the texture. When they quit eating meat for ethical issues they still remember that they enjoyed meat.

Yeah, this is where I differ from most people I guess. I do like to eat tasty food, but I’m not addicted to it.

I like trying out new and weird food, just for the heck of it, why not. Like I had pigs brains about a year ago. Why? I’ve never tasted it, was wondering how it tasted, and yes, when I saw that on the menu, I just had to have it.

You could say I like to try new things, but I’m not addicted to tastes. The new thing doesn’t just go for food in my case, it’s about anything, so I wouldn’t say it’s food exclusive.

So if you enjoy eating meat and only stopped due to the ethical issues, why wouldn’t you create a substitute?

So, the only reasons vegans don’t eat animal products are ethical? Didn’t actually know this, good info 👍. And yeah, in that case, it does make sense I guess.

It’s like a lesbian! Just because you aren’t attracted to a man, or don’t want to be with one, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a dildo.

Yeah, that one is also kinda confusing for me, lol 😂.

Oh… well, in that case, I guess it’s OK. I thought you guys ate that stuff regularly, like every day. Cuz I’ve tried it and I didn’t like most of it… mainly because it was advertised as “compareable in taste to meat”, which wasn’t true IMO. I mean, if they just marketed it as “soy beans mashed with vegetables in a round form, which you can cook”, yeah, I’d probably like it. But saying it tastes similar to meat… ummm, no, I’m sorry, that’s just not true.

What’s with all the memes shitting on vegetarianism? I’m a meat eater, but I feel like Lemmy has just been swarmed with edgy 14 year old redditors who thrive on jokes about ‘vegetarianism bad meat good’.

I think it’s just a "what goes around " thing

People don’t really have problems with vegetarians… they tend to be regular people, not trying to stir shit up… The nut jobs are vegans…

I like how an old ass meme turned into people saying the OP’s posting meat propaganda. It was posted during a cat meme phase here and now people come out turning a molehill into a mountain. Hate it for the fact it has the Real Housewives not because you think it’s imaginary propaganda ffs lol.

Carnist and carnist apologists should just go back to reddit.

They don’t apply concepts like consent or bodily autonomy to conscious beings of their own will. In addition, they do far more damage to the planet and it’s inhabitants including humans.

If you want to learn about Veganism or have a good faith discussion about the moral baseline, stick around but otherwise just gtfo.
