Sorry for a dumb question: so the original creator says the project is dead, but there’s also a ton of hosted domains using nitter. So in theory could someone else pick up the project?
The way that tweets were pulled has been disabled. Existing instances will slowly fail over the next few months. Here’s a good explainer comment.
