I quit smoking over 15 years ago and one of the main reasons was I didn’t want to be associated with other smokers because of how many of them are inconsiderate and assholes.

Yeah smokers can be the most inconsiderate pricks ever. Especially since they INSIST on smoking in your god damn car or even your apartment like what the fuck get that shit out of my place you are NOT stinking up my car, my clothes, my home GTFO.

And if you are smoking in public do not be surprised if I suddenly stop talking to you and relocate. I do not want to have a conversation where I am forced to inhale your cancer fumes so stop whining when I walk away from you you putrid piece of asphalt

The problem isn’t that they’re smokers, it’s that they’re inconsiderate assholes that happen to smoke. I was a smoker for 30+ years and would NEVER have done any of that. Ever. To anyone.

Granted, I’ve quit for quite some time… still. Your issue is that your friends are assholes. Not smokers.

Current smoker here. I couldn’t imagine lighting up in someone’s car much less their house. I don’t even smoke in my own car if a non smoker is in it.

That’s very true. Very sad, though it still doesn’t excuse bad behavior. I get it, I do. I had that monkey on my back for decades. But that was my choice, not other people’s, which meant it was my obligation to be a good smoker and be respectful of public spaces in particular, and shared spaces in general.

Addiction is brutal for sure, even “just” nicotine.

            • About that last point… Even something basic as sugar is addictive as hell. We just don’t notice because it’s in everything we eat.

I decided to cut out sugar from my drinks and found myself genuinely addicted to milk. I wondered why that was and decided to check what milk contains. Turns out milk contains trace amounts of natural sugars!

I agree with all this, but would also like to take a moment to complain about how WEED smokers think this doesn’t also apply to them, even though they understand it when it comes to tobacco.

The smell of marijuana is twice as bad as the smell of tobacco.

Where tobacco smoke makes me feel consistently short of breath, nauseated, irritated in my eyes, etc…

Weed actually has a disgusting “taste” to it when you smell it. The gag reflex makes all the previous issues so much worse

I smoked weed for nearly 20 years and never did it in public. Partly because I knew the main employer in my town drug tests their employees regularly but mainly because it doesn’t help the general public’s opinion.

If the only people that most of the population encounter using an illegal drug are ignorant wasters then it harms legalisation efforts.

But there are so many pathetic idiots here who have nothing going on in their lives that need to impress others by sparking a joint in public.

I’d take tobacco over weed anytime.

Yeah, honestly fuck them both, thank God weed ain’t legal where I live, that won’t stop all the pricks though, but that is just an issue in big cities.

        FYI, it’s Cannabis not Marijuana.

Marijuana is a name made up by USA in the war on drugs to associate Cannabis with Mexican people and add fuel to their racist agendas.

Marijuana literally is a fake Mexican word existing solely to further spread hate

Vaping has made this so much worse too. People think they can just blow clouds anywhere because hey it’s “just water” . Like no dude you can’t smoke in the ballroom of an aquarium. Or no I don’t care that we are at a dive bar take it outside. This is a non smoking bar.

I live in a southern European country where smoking is widespread and I try to avoid going inside coffee shops because it reeks of smoke.

I mean, I can tolerate it pretty well but I’d rather avoid it.

My wife and I were just in Rome and the air quality was so bad, even without all the cigarettes. Why are people okay living that way?
