Honestly it’s wild it didn’t happen sooner. Here’s hoping it comes to PC eventually, but until then we have emulators.

One can hope, but while Uncharted: A Thief’s End and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart came to PC, the remasters of their previous games have not. It seems unlikely this will be any different.

The new games I honestly think improve the originals. It makes it far more interesting than just the revenge story it was before

Yeah I agree. Even the new ones aren’t great storywise, but Kratos being a dad is way better than the old scenario I don’t even remember.

Wasn’t he a dad in the old ones, too? I vaguely remember something about him protecting his family or some kind of tragedy related to them.

Right? It humanizes the half-god. And yet I just saw earlier that that was David Jaffe’s (original creator) biggest complaint of the new Kratos.

I just hope they update some of the outdated mechanics like all the quick-time events. The accessibility features in the newer games are excellent.

is Sony now also creatively bankrupt? I mean come on how many games do they want to remake? Release the HD collection together with the third part for current systems and put your devs on something new, the games are perfectly playable even by today standards…

Is (every movie company ever made) creatively bankrupt, i mean come on how many movies do they want to remaster? I bought die hard on bluray just a decade ago, and now they release it with a new remastered scan on uhd?!

It’s really pathetic, bringing their old things to modern platforms. Everyone should just not be able to enjoy the games because I personally already played them on ps2

The person you’re replying to said they should re-release it on current systems, though? And remastering movies is a hell of a lot less work than remastering games…

Remastering movies is a lot more work than you think it is. Here’s a look at what went into the excellent Jaws remaster https://youtu.be/Lcn06rKJn4s?si=DrpbfXV5eZoseB8g - here’s another looking into all the work that went into the wonderful Dracula remaster for uhd https://youtu.be/7nZXJddaTXA?si=zUZLj17lqV1ORnfa

What do you think a remaster is? Op is complaining about them “remaking” it, which isn’t correct. Their main claim is that sony is “creatively bankrupt” for remastering old games whilst also making new games

My comparison to the movie industry is apt.

Both gow 1 and 2 are classics, maxing out the ps2 hardware - not sure I’d revisit via a remaster though given the button mashing / ate but still worthy for an update.
