Good to start getting a feel for who’s got eyes on them heading into 2024. If this were reddit there’d already be 10 posts of people saying Pronman sucks. I personally really appreciate him, but also would probably end up slightly dead inside if we draft 8OA next year.

Regardless, good to start learning these talents. Imagine drafting another Eiserman…

If we pick that high, then taking a swing at another scoring center/winger is not a bad idea. But we’re 0 for 18 in the lottery era so we won’t ever sniff top 8 and we have a playoff bubble roster. I’m not sure why Pronman put us in the top ten. Sider, Larkin, Raymond and Husso and others would have to be injured for awhile for the team to be that bad. If anything, I’m not sure that the Red Wings will have a first round pick if the right trading partner calls.

I’m with you. Honestly, though, anything between roughly 7th and 14th is more or less interchangeable. You’re likely talking about teams that are only a few wings away from playoff contention, at least for a portion of the year. With variability being from a number of random uncontrollable factors. Of course not all teams in that range are created equal, but my point was mostly that I don’t want us to end up that low again. It likely would mean we were 1) bad but not terrible, 2) still likely not an actual playoff contender and 3) not a lottery winner. It suggests a pretty rough middling position for us at this juncture.

Sucks not winning the lottery in a cap era rebuild.
