Hi all! Here’s a quick knit I made from a chart from the New Knit Stitch Library by Leslie Stanfield. This will eventually be made into a bag! Wanted to make my first knitting community contribution since making the move to lemmy!

    Woohoo, welcome!

Ah it’s pretty! And that yarn is to die for. Would make a lovely bag for sure. I’ve been eyeing up methods for lining crochet bags to keep them from stretching out but not sure how it works with knitting since it’s generally a less sturdy fabric to start off with, just another research rabbithole for when I have time (so like, never, but a girl can dream). You said it with such confidence though imma assume you’re an expert and will be able to give us lots of tips on how you did it :D

p.s if you’re into any other crafts too I’ve got a big list of 'em over here https://lemmy.world/post/418525, been trying to help our people navigate around a bit and find cool things.

Thank you! It’s Cascade 220 in color 1040. I was worried about the same thing with the fabric stretching, I’m thinking I’m going to try to lightly felt it once I have it all put together and hope that prevents too much stretch! Fingers crossed it works and doesn’t ruin the stitch definition too much!!

Might have known, I have a thing for Cascade yarns myself 😄

I’ll definitely be awaiting updates on this one!

This only took me a couple of days! That’s with knitting several hours a day, I keep saying I need to keep better track of actual knit time lol

Wow that’s so encouraging and honestly makes me want to pick up knitting! How long did it take you to get to that point skillwise?

Not OP but you might be surprised how quickly you can pick something like this up if you’re willing to practise. Just start with the basics, how to cast on and do knit stitches, then purl stitches, and how to cast off. A lot of cool textures are just combinations of knit and purl so you’ll be halfway there already.

I’ve been knitting for quite a few years, but that’s not to say I couldn’t have done this sooner! Like the other person who commented said, you might be surprised by how quickly you can do it if you just give it a try! There are so many resources available on the internet these days to help learn and you just need to put in some time to practice!
