It’s crazy to me that not everywhere has a non partisan electoral agency. Canada has Elections Canada and it’s great (at being non partisan, at least). Whereas the US just lets state legislatures controlled by a single party have apparently completely free reign to draw up whatever lines they want? And people are okay with that??

Plus the US also has so many other issues with the voting process that we don’t have in Canada. Long lines? We don’t have that. I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes to vote and sometimes it’s in and out. Something like giving water to voters isn’t even needed. ID? Canada gives you soooo many options for ID and if none of the ID options work, you can still vote without ID in various ways. Access to polling stations? They are everywhere. I’ve lived in a huge number of places and every single place had a polling station a very reasonable distance. When I lived in a rural area, it was in the nearest town. When I lived in a city, it was always walking distance.

If only we’d go to a one-person-one-vote system with ranked-choice voting, the people might have a voice. Oh well…

At least corporations can have democracy. /s
