Wait… Are we just the same people on opposite sides of a made up fence?

Leftists: We want healthcare, education, affordable housing, equal rights, and bodily autonomy for the working class.

The Right: We want corporations to pay no taxes, kindergartners to be able to carry guns in schools, and women to hold rapists’ babies to term.

Centrists: These are literally the same people.

I mean the values don’t align, but we all seem to think the other side is stupid.

Clearly the message didn’t hit in my first post lol.

Thinking the other side is foolish doesn’t make you the same as them. If that were true, there would be no valid disagreements in the history of civilisation

I mean, I agree. I don’t know why trying to understand the perspective of those you disagree with is such an unpopular idea?

I likely share a lot of the same views as others on here, but that doesn’t seem to matter because I can be sympathetic to the “other side”.

Look, I do my best to listen to right leaning ideologies, but no matter how correct they think they are, there always seems to be hypocrisy and contradiction in the way they get to their opinion on most matters.

If anyone ever wants to convince someone to change their mind on some core opinion, then calling them stupid isn’t gonna get anyone anywhere but listening and asking questions (without judgment!) can get someone to follow. Look up “deep canvasing”, interesting stuff.

Anyways… The meme was funny, my joking comment wasn’t. Oh well.
