I think as long as you are content with the game’s current state (in early access) you won’t get burned. The only exception are the rare cases that the game gets WORSE after development.
This happened with the game snow for me. It was buggy as hell and terrible to play. I bought it too. Years later it’s some subscription garbage or you need expansions or something. Like wtf did I pay for
I think the problem is that it’s a gamble, and there’s always potential to get burned.
Money up front for something you really have no idea how it is, is stupid.
