The app is also specifically designed to stay hidden on a phone’s home screen, making it difficult to detect and remove. Also known as stalkerware or spouseware, these kinds of phone monitoring apps are often planted by someone — such as spouses or domestic partners — with physical access to a person’s phone, without their consent or knowledge

Damn, you aren’t kidding. Also, people, just a little advice from an old man, if you feel the need to stalk/spy on your SO, just understand the relationship is already over and move one without doing this kind of shit.

As an old woman I agree. The idea that revenge or forcing someone to admit what you suspected will make you feel better in any way, shape or form is a waste of energy at best. At worst it’s stupid and myopic.

Walking away from it is far more healthy and so much easier. Chalk it up to a learning experience.

The software itself is legal because it’s just software.

Yes, but how is its use legal??

Some places won’t even allow you to record a phone conversation that you are a part of, without the other person’s consent.

But actually spying on a grown adult, so you can read all their text messages, social media posts, have access to their passwords, location, photos, etc… seems completely wrong.
