Congress has approved legislation that would prevent any president from withdrawing the United States from NATO without approval from the Senate or an Act of Congress. The measure, spearheaded by Sens. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), was included in the annual National Defense Authorization Act, which passed out of the House on Thursday and is expected to be signed by President Biden.

NATO and OTAN are in the snippet. Is OTAN the French way to say NATO?

Wow I’ve always just thought it just backwards as a design feature. I wore a NATO / OTAN patch for a year 😂

Back when NATO was established, having French language plastered all over was France’s way to stay relevant after the war, despite getting their asses wooped by the Germans and being kept on life support by US and UK during the war.

Charles De Gaulle wanted French culture to stay dominant. He did not want UK to join in the European Economic Community because he feared that English language will become the international language instead of French.
