I feel like characterizing this as ‘ready to shop’ is a bit weird when the article contains:
A large part of the spending spree can be chalked up to inflation, as higher prices mean people pay more for the same amount of products and services — which will boost a retailer’s take.
The real reason sales are up. If you charge me 33% more for shit I absolutely have to buy to not die then, yeah, you probably are going to extract more value from me.
