Ford Motor has offered Canadian union Unifor wage increases of up to 25 per cent in its tentative agreement, the union said on Saturday. The agreement provides a 10 per cent wage increase for the first year followed by increases of two per cent and three per cent through the second and third year and a $10,000 productivity and quality bonus to all employees on the active roll of the company, Unifor said.
It’s up to members now to vote if the proposed terms are satisfactory. If yes, then great. If not, then Unifor might need to shift its strategy a bit and better co-ordinate with UAW.
I think it’s been approved now.
I did see that. 54% approval, it shows that while many were happy, a significant group were wanting an alternative, perhaps to join their American brothers, sisters and fellows.
Yeah. I’d have thought they’d sync with the UAW. With that said, Ford of Canada isn’t exactly FoMoCo and their financial numbers might be different enough to make the Canadian union leadership doubt they can squeeze what UAW is aiming to squeeze.
