Former President Trump will be arraigned next Wednesday in Georgia over charges he and 18 co-defendants sought to overturn the state’s election results.

Trump’s arraignment has been set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 6, the first of all the defendants who are charged in a sweeping racketeering case alleging they joined a criminal enterprise bent on keeping Trump in power.

All the defendants’ arraignments were set in 15-minute increments by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee.

    Because I didn’t know …

An arraignment involves the accused being identified and called to the bar. The charge is then read to the accused, and they are asked for their plea. The accused then either pleads ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’.

I fully expect Rudy to plead for a Vodka Martini when they call him to the bar.

True, but it’s absolutely unheard of for someone to plead guilty at their arraignment in the USA, because your arraignment is the first time you are formally informed of your exact indictment. In fact, while you are asked for a plea, it’s standard procedure for the judge to force you to plead not guilty if you attempt to plead guilty, because there’s no real way to have engaged your right to counsel at that point.

And it does not take a crystal ball to knwo that Trump considers himself as innocent as a lamb. So I hope they lead him to the slaughter…
