We urge Paramount to listen to the voices of millions of fans who are yearning for more adventures in the Starfleet Academy. Renewing the show for a third season is not just a business decision; it’s about continuing a legacy, honouring storytelling, and nurturing a global community of Trekkers.

That is your opinion.
I’m a huge fan of Kurtzman and all the New Trek that he created. I love them all. I often rewatch Discovery, Picard, even Academy. I need it. I need this. The entire world is gone to shit, and his shows, his creations, are the only thing that sooth me right now.
These comments, like the one you just made, are exactly why Academy has been cancelled, why Discovery was cut short, and so forth.
I truly dislike Star Wars. And yet, you’ll never see me bitching about it in their forums. I don’t think about it at all until something about it shows up, and even then, I just ignore it and move along, like any normal person would do.
If you don’t like it, if it’s not for you, then just don’t watch it, but shut the fuck up!!! Let those who enjoy it, enjoy it.
Yes, “you’re entitled to your opinion etc.”, but do you absolutely have to ruin it for everyone else?!? You’re part of the problem here.
You, and all others with their continuous vile comments, bear part of the responsibility in the cancellation of a beloved, respected show.
So we’re supposed to watch bad TV for some kind of social conscience and responsibility? and if we don’t watch what we like, we are “The Problem”.
I’m getting an insight into modern Star Trek fans here.
Damn, I never said you shouldn’t like the show, or that it’s objectively bad. I just expressed my preference for the direction of future trek projects, in what I thought was a relevant thread.
You know it’s okay to enjoy something without making it your entire personality right? Leave your unfounded generalisations in the trash where they belong.
I don’t understand what’s so vile about their comment. It seems to me like they’re expressing their opinion in the most polight way possible.
I’m very happy for you that you like the new Trek so much and it sucks that it got cancelled but to be honest I also wouldn’t mind some TNG-style Trek.
Also please keep in mind that Star Trek is made by a company (Paramount), which is interested in profit and not in random people’s opinions online. So the reason the show got cancelled is probably because of financial stuff (e.g. too few people watching it, or the ongoing merger with Skydance), and not because some people are saying they don’t like it.
That is your opinion. Your argument that only your opinion may be spoken is invalid.
That is not what I wrote.
you literally did lol
Yes it is. You told anyone who doesn’t like it to shut the fuck up.
Now let me get some🍿 and watch you dance about trying to argue that you didn’t say this.
It’s fine if people voice their opinions whether in agreement or disagreement.
From his perspective, you’re part of the problem because you’re advocating for resources to be spent on what you prefer over what he prefers.
So, what you’re telling me is, we should just take it like a good docile doggy and let all the new trek and its show runner be bullied into oblivion by trolls, incels and haters?
Because that’s exactly what you’re saying by taking their defence.
your characterisation of people who didn’t like it as “trolls, incels, and haters” is insulting, needlessly defensive, and does nothing to garner support for your argument.
No, we’re telling you to maybe not jump down the throat of anyone who says “I dunno, I didn’t like it” like they are actively trying to kill your puppy. This post is taking up space in everyone’s feed, calling them to go sign. There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone saying “eh, nah.”
I’m saying you need to touch grass and let people voice their own opinion of a TV show.
This “shut up or agree with me” mentality is nuts.
