Ok? Who is out there that’s criticizing “AI” that is also saying they can’t do damage because they’re not actually intelligent?

i just wanted to mention ai drones and surveillance already exist. it’s already doing damage, not to mention the environmental damage.

Again, what critic is claiming that llms and the rest of the tech aren’t causing damage?

i’m not sure what you mean.

you were arguing ai won’t become skynet, i am arguing it already has in many ways.

i’m not sure what you mean.

It’s literally the comment you responded to. Either way, Skynet isn’t just “machines that hurt people”. In the world of Terminator, Skynet is the hyper-intelligent, self-aware AI that facilitates the surreptitious takeover of humanity’s technology. Saying llms will ever remotely come close to that demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of what the technology is and can do.

actual ai is controlled by rogue oligarchs to facilitate a take over of humanity’s technology. it’s not just machines that kill people in a vacuum either.

in practice, for us down here, it’s already acting like skynet in many ways.

Isn’t that your argument when you say these aren’t skynet?

The entire purpose of the meme is to say it doesn’t matter. You’re claiming the risk isn’t real without backing up the claim.

It doesn’t matter if they ai killers are human like or air borne drones or something we haven’t thought off.

The entire terminator franchises is how humanity created the tech to exterminate itself.

How is saying “these programs won’t become sentient and take over the world” equivalent to claiming they can’t do any damage? And if it doesn’t matter, why is it being used to strawman criticism? Every critic I’ve ever seen has been very aware of the damage the tech is doing now and can do in the future. You’re the only ones here claiming that the two are believed to be linked.

The entire purpose of the meme is to say it doesn’t matter. You’re claiming the risk isn’t real without backing up the claim.

It doesn’t matter, but it needs to be substantiated? Pick a lane, already.

        Also, this?

The entire terminator franchises is how humanity created the tech to exterminate itself.

The entire franchise is fiction. We have enough real world examples without acting like fake stories are any sort of basis for an argument.

I get the impression you don’t really understand the concept of a meme. It’s not a philosophical treatise lmfao. Memes are just loose sketches of an idea where the reader is free to project whatever they like onto it.

You’re just acting like a reddit debate bro here.
