We love the Americans who are putting up a fight against fascism. We see you and hope that more join in.

I find it highly distasteful how pro-genocide democrats are still using the Arab-Americans who couldn’t bring them to vote for the people who were actively slaughtering their family members for a cheap dig at the left. You lost the election, get over it and look to the future. Try to find a way to actually mobilize people rather than scolding people for not voting for genocidaires.

It’s hilarious how people like you won’t let go of blaming the democrats for genocide, when you allowed trump to win the election; but now that he gives $3.3 billion to the Israeli military, promises to bulldoze and gentrify gaza, and creates a new board for gaza oversight to which he invites Putin and Netanyahu, I hear crickets…

Gaza would be doing objectively better than it is now if Kamala Harris were president, but you really showed the corporate dems by letting trump get elected. Nice job…

I didn’t allow anything, I’m a Canadian and can’t vote in your elections. I still wouldn’t have been able to bring myself to vote for either of your genocide parties if I could.

I don’t understand why you people have such a vested interest in pretending the democrats are completely blameless for everything. It was their election to lose, and they lost it, because they suck. They could have done something for people when they were in power, they could have offered to do something if they were elected. Instead they did nothing at all! They continue to do nothing aside from say “make sure to vote in the mid-terms!” No attempt to mobilize people, nothing but the most tepid criticisms of the Trump regime. Useless! Yet somehow fools like you just compulsively have to carry water for their pathetic controlled opposition party, despite the fact that they’re responsible for Trump being elected in the first place. What you need is a new party. Until you give up on the Democrats, you’ll never get anywhere.

It’s funny how you assume I’m some die-hard Democrat supporter and not simply a pragmatist. I have plenty of frustrations with the direction and leadership of the Democratic Party. I’d love for them to get their shit together, or be replaced by progressives with a pulse on the real issues people face, or even be replaced by a progressive party (even though the american electoral system is not conducive to anything outside the two-party dichotomy).

But the fact is that the most important thing right now is stopping trump, and that can only happen if the opposition (read: democrats) take back the majorities in both chambers of Congress. In fact, in order to remove him, they need two-thirds of the Senate in addition to a non-sabotageable simple majority in the House of Representatives. And even then they’ll still have to work around a Supreme Court with a 6 to 3 conservative majority.

I don’t idolize the Democratic Party, but I’m also not hyperfixated on an immediately perfect solution, when the biggest problem we have to solve right now is getting rid of trump and removing republicans from having unchecked power in all three branches of government. We wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with if people could have gotten over themselves and simply voted for the least bad option, because that’s what the situation requires. If you don’t like it, me neither, but we can only change it from within and that’s never going to happen if people are unwilling to participate in the system due to its flaws. It’ll never be perfect, but that’s no excuse to hand the victory to the fascists.

Some people need to read up on realpolitik and learn to accept what they can’t change, and change what they can.

Man, I don’t know if there are even going to be elections. If there are, they probably won’t be fair ones. Even if there are elections, and the Democrats win, will they do anything? If history is any guide, they won’t, and there will just be an even more fascist Republican government after them. You’re going to have to try breaking out of this death spiral in some other way than just “voting Democrat, scolding people for criticizing the Democrats”, because it has gone very poorly so far.

Anyway, I think you’re really overestimating how many left wingers there are, period, let alone the amount that didn’t vote and could have made a difference. The Democrats, huge losers, predictably lost. They’ll probably keep doing it. Come up with a new plan.

More registered voters didn’t vote in 2024 than voted for either candidate. Yeah, they could have made a difference.

And if there’s really an insignificant number of left wingers like you’re insinuating, then how do you expect to vote in anyone better than a milquetoast dem?

Wasn’t the turnout like 66%? I think that’s better than usual, no? Anyway, most of the people who didn’t vote are probably just apolitical, not left wingers.

The point isn’t that there’s some secret reservoir of secret left-wing ideologues the Democrats can tap into, it’s that if you make peoples lives better in a concrete way, not only they tend to vote for you, they become politicized. FDR won three terms by doing that. The Democrats of today would prefer to watch the country slide into fascism than offer anyone anything.
