Hey guys,
I started this community because I was a frequent user of /r/translators before I got banned from Reddit. I’m a translator/interpreter in Japan, and I really like helping people with translations in my free time too.
I’ve helped many people dodge bullets with crappy Japanese tattoos that make no sense, decipher old letters, identify artworks, and much more.
Of course, the community is not limited to just Japanese and English pairs. Anyone is free to ask help with whatever language!
よろしく!
PS: It’s my first time ever modding a community so I’ve a lot to learn. Feel free to let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

Hi k0e3, really sorry for the delay! I usually recommend a maximum size of around 512x512 pixels for the community icon, and 1024 pixels wide for the banner. Having it be too large doesn’t help much since a lot of people use the site on mobile, and a large file takes longer to load.
Dimensions wise, people seem to target something around ~960px x 240px for the banner, and square for the icon. On desktop, you can right click on images to open them in new tabs and see the original dimensions.
Some examples:
You can even have animated icons if you wanted, although not a lot of people do that: https://lemmy.ca/c/test
Hi Otter,
This is super helpful, thank you so much! I know what I’ll be working on during the weekend.
No problem!
